Henry Hooper Blood

Utah Governor. A successful businessman, he had served in a number of small political offices before his election as a Democrat to the Utah Governorship in 1932. Assuming the office in January 1933, he worked through two terms to mitigate the effects of the Great Depression on his state though measures such as the implementation of a sales tax, and the securing of Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration projects to help employ Utah citizens. He left office in January 1941 after two terms. He was the first Governor to reside in the current Utah Governor’s Mansion in Salt Lake City.
