This one-story brick building has been greatly altered. The front façade of glass display windows and tile hides a low hip roof.
The front façade has been raised and is covered with tile. The building was extensively remodeled in 1969.
This was one of the first commercial buildings built in this block which had been essentially residential.
The Consolidated Wagon and Machine Co. had been incorporated by 1906 with George T. O’Dell as the general manager and J. F. VanWagenen as local manager. In 1911 the company moved from 120 North Academy to this building.
The company continued operation in the building for many years—becoming the Consolidated Hardware Co. in the early 1940s with Owen W. Johnson, Manager and then in the late 1940s the Consolidated Corporation with Johnson as president, Eldon G. Makell as vice-president, and Ernest C. Salerno as secretary/treasurer.
