The Jens Nielsen House in Ephraim is architecturally significant as an
example of Scandinavian folk building design in Utah. The house contributes historically to the thematic nomination, “The Scandinavian-American Pair-house in Utah.”

Jens Christian Nielsen, a Danish farmer, claimed this Ephraim lot in 1869 and received the Mayor’s Deed for it in 1872. Nielsen held this city lot into the 20th century and probably built this stone house around 1870. The historical records of the county contain no further information on Nielsen.
