Francis and Jane Vail Johnson Lee
Francis and Jane Vail, accompanied by some of their children and a nephew’s family, arrived here in Meadow Valley on May 4, 1864. They were the first pioneers who came to settle and make this their home. This group consisted of seventeen souls, five wagons, a few cattle, sheep, swine and other domestic animals. This location would come to be known as Panaca.
The sculptor, Lester B. Lee, is a great-great grandson.
