A.B. Rockhill Home
190 East 100 South in Spanish Fork, Utah
This is one of several homes A. B. Rockhill built in Spanish Fork, Zebedee Coltrin bought the home over 100 years ago, he was Joseph Smith’s bodyguard. Zeb lived in Palmyra in 1852 and had property inside the Spanish Fork Fort (Fort St. Luke) which was at 200 S Main.

I seriously doubt that Zebedee Coltrin bought this house. A. B. Rockhill was only 9 years old in 1880 (See the 1880 U.S. census) and Zebedee Coltrin died in 1887. The Rockhill and Coltrin families were enumerated a few pages apart in the 1880 census in Spanish Fork, but the addresses are not indicated. Coltrin family history indicates that Zebedee Coltrin built a house on Main Street and was the first in Spanish Fork to have a grape vineyard and a peach orchard. Could it have been the other way around? That Coltrin built the house and A. B. Rockhill bought it?
Anything’s possible, I’ve found that pretty much all history has conflicting sides and it’s hard to ever know the truth. I just document what I find and often find the opposite and document both.
