Hobble Creek Golf Course in Hobble Creek Canyon.

Hobble Creek Golf Course, established in 1967, is one of Utah’s most popular courses. Many don’t realize that this course was designed by William F Bell, an award-winning architect of over 200 golf courses. In a conversation with the former Head Golf Professional, Sonny Braun, he mentioned that “Originally two sites were being considered for the location of the golf course, one was in the valley and the other was in the canyon. After reviewing the locations, William F. Bell said he would only be interested if they decided on the site in the canyon.” Mr. Braun and the other city officials knew that having a renowned architect would be important in creating the best course they could. Sonny continued, “After assisting with the initial course layout, the architect did not have much involvement until the time that the tee boxes and the greens were put in. He then personally visited the site and selected the placement of each tee box and oversaw the design, slopes, and layout of each green.”
