There was another location for an episode of planet of the apes. When I was a kid, we used to visit sand caves, located south of Mount Carmel on the way to Kanab. They were so cool to play in, we would scrape sand to make sand paintings and such, and there were so many colors. Sometimes you would find chunks of Styrofoam painted that used to be part of the movie sets. I was totally fascinated by that!
In 1976 my husband and I actually spent the night in the back of the caves, and when the sun came up it shown straight in all the way to the back where we made our bed.
