Part of Ogden’s Pioneer Days 75th Celebration was to put out 60+ fiberglass horse sculptures painted in different ways. This is part of that series, the rest can be see on this page.
“Carousel” was created by Sherry Ferrin.
Located at 2309 Washington Blvd in Ogden, Utah.
Sherry Ferrin is a native of Northern Utah. She graduated from Weber State University with a degree in elementary education. She taught school in the Ogden area for 18 years before retiring from the classroom to pursue an interest in art and photography that blossomed into a second career. Sherry is a muralist and fine artist who draws inspiration for her work from local landscapes, historical themes, and the American West. Recently she closed her photography studio to spend more time with her family and to focus her energy on fine art. A strong advocate for the arts in the community and schools, Sherry has organized and promoted large public art projects both in Salt Lake City and Ogden and is a member of the Mayor’s Arts Council for Ogden City. Her horse for the “Trail to Pioneer Days” represents the history of our proud pioneer heritage and our future as a community; it combines visions of high adventure and of recreation. She used an airbrush and hand painting to create the effect. Sherry is married to her former college sweetheart and is the mother to three children and nine grandchildren.
