Asphaltum, Utah
Asphaltum is an old mining area / ghost town named for the Asphaltum they were mining here. Asphaltum was the earlier name for Asphalt which is mostly used for road construction now. Asphaltum/Gilsonite/Bitumen is also a brown/black mineral pigment used in oil and watercolor and obtained from deposits in Utah, especially this area.
