Montello, Nevada on highway 233 is a nice town I stopped by to check out. It began in 1904 and became the biggest railroad siding in the county.
It was first called Bauvard, they had a large hotel that served the Southern Pacific Railroad. The population reached 800 at one point and is down to 75.
Some of the things I’ve documented related to Montello are:
- Montello Cemetery
- Montello Tree of Bottles and Cans
- Montello Railroad Siding Shack Graveyard
- Southern Pacific Hotel
- Unknown Soldiers
