Please tell me more about the town of Arthur in Utah. How did it start in 1910. How do you know it ended in 1958? How did it end? I have come across a Japanese man in my father’s history, a friend of my father, who was born in Arthur. Did that area have anything to do with Japanese immigrants, or perhaps with the Japanese internment in Utah?
My grandma’s family (Tashima family) had a farm in Arthur, Utah. I don’t know why they settled in Arthur, but it was unrelated to internment. Because my grandma’s family already resided in Utah during the war, they were not interned (since only coastal residents were interned). Maybe it was a more affordable area for immigrants or offered farming opportunities? Out of curiosity, what was the last name of your father’s friend?
