Purple Haze Dance Pavilion is one of several outdoor dance pavilions around central and southern Utah I’ve been trying to track down and document. See others here:
Purple Haze was built in 1928 and was popular in the 1930s and 1940s and is located just off highway 62 as you leave Kingston, Utah to go up Kingston Canyon.
Thank you for saving history!
You’re welcome, I love doing it.
I remember attending several dances with my parents back in the late ’50s. Good to have this piece of history documented!
Purple Haze has now reopened and will be hosting dances once and sometimes twice a month all through the summer. Watch for Facebook posts and local flyers for upcoming dances. Jason and Melissa Millet and other family members have been putting blood, sweat and tears into renovating Purple Haze to its original glory. All entry fees are put back into renovation projects and supplies for the venue. Its been really fun hearing peoples stories from the past when Purple Haze was the place to go. Come join the fun.
Amazing, memories and history!!
