He came by wagon train from Nebraska to Salt Lake City in 1859.

At his death he was the oldest Civil War veteran and oldest and longest LDS Member.

Homesteaded in Ashley Valley in 1883.

The first Physician in the Uintah Basin, County Commissioner, Surveyor.

Built a schoolhouse.

Marker erected by his descendants in 1997, it is 101 inches high for his 101 years.

Located outside the Vernal DUP Museum at the old Tithing Office.
