There are a lot of old historic outdoor dance halls and dance pavilions around Utah, most are in ruins and fading away. I’m trying to visit and document them.
Here are the ones I’ve learned exist and if I’ve documented them the name is linked to the page.
- Anona in Richfield
- Cobble Crest in Kanarraville
- Cottonwood Grove in Marysvale
- Purple Haze in Kingston
- Rainbow Gardens in Cedar City
- Redmond Remonto in Redmond
- Rendezvous above Glenwood
- Shady Dell/Dale along the Sevier River
- Sunset Pavilion in Richfield
- Starlite Gardens in Anderson Junction

Interesting, a new subject, what about dance pavilion at Lagoon?
I don’t know of that one, is it from the same 30’s / 40’s time period?
“Red Apple” in Torrey UT
and the “Latona” in American Fork.
If you contact me, I’m pretty sure I have pictures of both.
Very cool, thanks! I’d love to see those.
Jacob,
I own the land where the dance hall was on the sevier River. It was called shady dell. I’d like to find more information on it as well. Maybe old pictures or something. Would you like to see the property and discuss this?
Email me
I’d love to! Thanks. I sent you an email.

If the top picture is just of the freeway at the Tocquerville/Hurricane exit. Then when my dad took my mom there dancing on their first date. it was called Anderson dance hall. That dates are between 1940-1944. It is really sad to see all of Iron and Washington County history disappear.
is there any other information on Rainbow Gardens in Cedar City? I was only able to find the Rainbow Gardens in Ogden, UT.
I have been helping to put together a 100th birthday party for my mother-in-law and in reading through her history and other documents she talks about a Dance Pavilion near Kanab at Three Lakes. Have you seen any information on it. Kanab was known as Little Hollywood and she danced with several of the movie stars at this Pavilion. I found an area called Three Lakes north of Kanab but have not been able to discover a dance pavilion in the area. Thanks.
