This house was built c.1908 for David and Lillian Affleck. David operated a family grocery store at 801 1st Avenue until the Depression when he became a purchasing agent for Salt Lake City. The Afflecks lived here until their deaths: David in 1951 and Lillian in 1963.

The two-story ‘box’ or ‘foursquare’ type house was popular in Utah from about 1900 to 1920. Comprised of four main rooms on each floor, this example has the typical hipped or pyramidal roof with a hipped roof dormer and is embellished with Neoclassical details and leaded glass transoms.
