Mr. Jacob Barlow. Howdy. My niece married a Jake Barlow many moons ago. They both grew up in the Bountiful area as did I. My family has a connection to the Val Verda arch going back to 1964. We moved into the home one house east of Orchard Drive in front of the arch three years after the 2nd arch was built. I use to look up at it through the kitchen window at night while doing dishes in the middle 1960s. It was like a tacky billboard in our backyard. But I thought it was cool when I was a kid. During daytime you could look out that kitchen window all the way to the top of 3100 south near North Canyon. The street was a perfect straight line aimed right for that window. I wondered if you were aware of the reason why the arch was moved a half block to the east and a dog leg to the north was added to 3100 south in 1983 along with a huge earthen berm where the old intersection used to be. I suspect you have heard the story already. If not, let me know and I’ll enlighten you. Ken Wilkes
