Ivar Nielsen House

This home of Ivar Nielsen’s was built in the late 1890s. Olaf Nelson laid the brick, which came from a brickyard at 200 East and about 300 or 400 North. Here again we see the same arched brickwork over the windows using a different color brick. The ornate spindled woodwork in the upper gables goes one step beyond that which you just saw at Ira Williams’s. The spindled widow’s walk and ornate spindled porch have been restored. Notice Ivan’s personal touch in the upper corners of the porch. His initials, “I.N.” add a special flare to this Victorian home.

Huntsville Ward Church Bell

In 1883 this historic church bell hung in a pioneer era chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The bell was relocated in 1959 to a new church meetinghouse constructed on this site. In 1968 a pre-dawn fire destroyed the chapel, but the bell was undamaged. A replacement meetinghouse was completed in 1970 and the bell was installed in a new bell tower. As a result of renovations to this meetinghouse in 2019, the bell was removed from the existing bell tower and placed on this monument as a memorial to the role it has played in community worship for 136 years.
