The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (sometimes called the LDS Church or the Mormons) has many Chapels, Tabernacles and Temples. Many of the old tabernacles stand out to me as some of the most amazing and gorgeous buildings around and I wanted a place to document the tabernacles I come across.
Wikipedia says there were “79 total tabernacles built during the mid-to-late nineteenth and early twentieth century, usually within areas of the Mormon Corridor that had predominantly Latter-day Saint populations. The largest such tabernacle is in Salt Lake City on Temple Square. The last tabernacle commissioned by the church was the Ogden Stake Tabernacle, built in the 1950s.”

I am very much interested in the Tabernacles of the Church. I moved to Utah three years ago. I had known of only about six tabernacles in Utah. The Granite Tabernacle is the Stake Center where I now reside. Is the same true for all tabernacles in the Church? I wish Stake Centers today were not so institution looking. The Granite tabernacle has paintings on the walls and a pipe organ. How nice it would be if Stake Centers were as “special.” I wish you had identified the name of the Tabernacle at the beginning of the article. ~Karenjmadsen@gmail.com. ~
It’s the one in Randolph.
Just so you know. Brigham City tabernacle has not been destroyed. Its across the street from the Brigham City temple.
You’re thinking of the Box Elder Tabernacle, which is in Brigham City so it makes sense .
