Courage

Dutch Flat was a busy commercial center rom the 1860’s through the 1880’s. In 1860, Dutch Flat had the largest voting population of Placer County, with 501 votes.

In 1861, Dutch Flat had:

  • 2 butcher stalls
  • 1 bakery
  • 17 saloons
  • 2 breweries
  • 3 blacksmith shops
  • 2 tin shops
  • 1 carpenter ship
